When you think about a brand new sparkling jade mindful meditation and spiritual practices might not be what you first consider. If we go back in time to ancient China we see that jade was really important in Taoist spiritual practices. If you look at today it's simple to see that old Taoist ways still affect how we think now helping us get even deeper into being mindful.
Taoism is an ancient Chinese philosophy that teaches living in harmony with the Tao and it is the basis for many modern meditative methods. The word Tao which comes from Chinese meaning path is a complex idea that doesn't translate directly. In its widest sense it is the natural spontaneous eternal and indescribable way everything started and moved forward. Taoists think that if you go with the flow of Tao it can bring you peace and mindfulness.
Jade is really important in Taoist meditation and it's called the Stone of Heaven. Jade wasn't only valued for its beauty but also for its spiritual importance. Taoists thought that jade could keep away bad energy and help create a feeling of peace and balance which are important for achieving mindfulness.
In ancient Taoist traditions jade discs called bi represented heaven and they were used in various rituals and ceremonies. Also small pieces of flat jade were held in the hand or put on the body while meditating. The cool smooth surface of the jade stimulates the sense of touch and helps encourage a deeper more focused meditative state.
These principles still exist in modern tools and practices for contemplation. Jade is still being used in many different forms. Jade shows up in many parts of our modern life whether it's a jade roller working out the tension in your skin a jade stone helping calm your thoughts or just a jade pendant hanging over your heart and stirring your spirit. Jade and its wisdom are everywhere.
The idea of balance and harmony that comes from Taoist beliefs which love jade also shows up in popular activities like yoga Qigong and Tai chi where people practice mindfulness and try to go with the flow. Practices that help people find peace clarity and enlightenment are rooted in the basic ideas of Taoism and also in the wisdom that comes from jade.
Ancient Taoist methods still shape how we think today as they lead us to find a balance between our mind body and soul. When we add things like jade to our meditation routines we can gain the advantages of ancient wisdom that helps us find peace balance and a deeper insight into who we are and the world we live in.
In conclusion the wisdom of jade and the Taoist methods are not outdated traditions. They still matter and have meaning as they quietly guide those who seek mindfulness in the noise of today's world.
